Fishing and paddling at Flamborough, East Yorkshire is always a pleasure ... deep clear waters - kelp beds - stunning scenery and wildlife and plenty of fish. Launch points are typically South landing or the slightly steeper North landing shown in this photo to the left here ..
Depending on the weather conditions launching is relatively easy. There is a strong tidal flow just outside of the landing mouth which on the flood will quite quickly take you south on the drift. It is an area for the more experienced and stronger paddler. Always take full safety equipment including VHF radio. Once set up for fishing the preferred setup we find are a light boat rod and reel. I personally use 15 - 20lb class Abu Rods and also take a couple of Abu 7000 reels loaded up with braid. If the water is clear using Hokki lures is all that is really needed. This will catch several species including Codling - Pollock - Wrasse - Mackerel and some very nice Bass on lures. North Landing is also a great place to take the family. While your paddling around both Fishing and exploring the rest of the family can laze about on the nice sandy beach or explore the various cave systems and view the huge amount of bird wildlife. Fishing in Bridlington Bay for Flatties, mackeral and other species. Its a beautiful and often tranquil bay in which to Kayak fish. Launching is quite easy with Plenty of parking up at the North Side. Bridlington is situated at the top end of the Holderness coast just south of Flamborough head. Being a relatively sheltered bay Bridlington offers kayak anglers plenty of opportunities to launch safely. Also is your new to kayaking its also a great place to learn the basics of kayak handling in the shallows.
